Life of Lyrics Music

Life of Lyrics Music is a faith-based music publishing and media company that creates, distributes, and licenses original music and related content. The company also provides services such as songwriting courses, performances, gigs, music licensing, and music industry resources. Yvette Huntley’s mission is to inspire, enlighten, and introduce audiences to Christ through music and media, while addressing life’s complexities in a relatable and authentic way.

Challenge: In September 2023, Yvette reached out to the center for assistance to create a space to allow individuals to dance and take lessons. Over time, Yvette found her passion in songwriting, videography, and singing.

How the Illinois SBDC helped: Business advisor Pam Clodfelter provided valuable insights on creating a business plan to assess the feasibility of the idea. She also discussed the formation of a legal structure in Illinois.

Result: In August 2025, Yvette received news that she had been awarded a grant from the Illinois Arts Council. These funds will help her with marketing and building industry connections, enabling her to grow on digital music platforms, increase fan engagement through social media, and expand into youth and young adult music education and outreach.
